Before the parquet boxes are opened: what we measure
In areas such as Nucli Històric, Barri del Pi and Sant Sebastià we find houses with ground-floor slabs that draw moisture from the ground. We test with a moisture meter, lay a vapour barrier and, if readings are high, wait or treat the base before the wood goes down.
When we lay solid parquet in houses in areas such as La Galbanya, Les Oliveres and Les Cases del Tint, we then sand it in several passes, vacuum thoroughly and apply varnish or oil. A light sand between coats keeps the finish even to the touch.
