How we replace a soil stack in Vic
In 1960s to 80s blocks, cast iron stacks are rusted inside and their joints are starting to open. We replace them with acoustic PVC, floor by floor, reconnecting the kitchen and bathroom branches (common in areas such as Centre Històric and Les Adoberies).
We work from the bottom up: first the section into the collector, then each floor with its branch connection. The stack stays in use and each home spends as little time as possible without drainage.
A site manager coordinates access to each floor with neighbours and the property manager and, when we finish, we clean ducts, stairs and communal areas. We also work on buildings nearby: Gurb, Calldetenes and Santa Eugènia de Berga.

Frequently asked questions
01Soil stack replacement in Vic: which areas do you cover?
We work in Vic in areas such as Centre Històric, Les Adoberies, El Remei, Montseny, La Guixa, Caputxins, Santa Clara and Horta Vermella, and also nearby: Gurb, Calldetenes and Santa Eugènia de Berga.
02Is the stack mine or the building's?
The main stack is usually a communal element, while each home's branches are private. If the main stack needs replacing, we discuss it with the owners' association or the property manager.
03Do you need to get into every flat?
To replace the whole stack, yes: the work goes floor by floor, through the service duct or partition in each home. We coordinate access with the neighbours and give notice in advance.
04Why acoustic PVC?
It reduces the noise of waste water heard through the wall, which is common with standard PVC or old cast iron stacks.
