How we tile a bathroom in Tiana
In 1960s–80s flats the original tiles are often firmly fixed but very dated. If the wall is flat and the tiles sound, we tile over them with a suitable adhesive; if hollow, they all come off (common in areas such as Centre and Can Gaietà).
In the shower area we waterproof with a liquid membrane or sheet, with tape at the corners and around taps and drain. Niches are lined with the same tiles and given a slight fall so they do not hold water.
