Old pipework, new systems: our experience in the area
In 1960s to 1980s flats in areas such as Centre, Vallparadís and Antic Poble de Sant Pere, galvanised steel pipe is the norm, and limescale gradually narrows it and cuts the pressure. We replace it with multilayer or PEX pipe and check the connection to every fixture at the same time.
On renovations in areas such as Ca n'Anglada, Torre-sana and Montserrat, we coordinate plumbing with the other trades: pipes and waste first, then the pressure test, and only then are chases closed and tiles laid. That way no newly finished wall has to be opened again.
