Why a drain stops flowing
In 1960s to 80s town-centre flats in areas such as Les Delícies, Les Nogueres and El Paradís, we often find thin PVC or asbestos-cement wastes with joints that are giving way, and hard water narrows the bore. We replace them with thick-walled pipe in generous diameters so limescale and grease take longer to build up.
When the shower waste runs under the floor, as in many bathrooms in areas such as La Molassa, Vallvallida and La Vinya, we open only the strip we need, replace the run with its fall towards the stack and reinstate the floor. Before closing up we run water for a good while and check every joint.
