From pull strap to motor: how we work
In 1960s to 80s flats in areas such as Les Delícies, Les Nogueres and El Paradís, the original PVC shutter with a pull strap and recessed winder is common. We replace it with foam-filled aluminium, which insulates better in winter, and seal the gaps around the box at the same time.
When we replace shutters in areas such as La Molassa, Vallvallida and La Vinya we also look at the box cover: if it is broken or uninsulated, we fit an access cover with a draught seal. That way the axle can be reached without breaking anything and the box stops being a cold spot.
