From fixing point to handrail: how we approach it
In 1960s to 80s blocks in areas such as Les Delícies, Les Nogueres and El Paradís, we find iron railings under layers of paint with rusted anchors inside the wall. If the support is damaged we repair it, and if the frame is still sound we consider restoring it rather than replacing it.
In areas such as La Molassa, Vallvallida and La Vinya we also restore wrought-iron railings: we strip the rust, weld in or replace missing bars and apply anti-corrosion primer and enamel. If the height falls short, we add a top rail without changing the style.
After the visit and written quote we install the railing with floors and façade protected, then push-test it before we leave. We also cover the surrounding area: El Masnou, Alella and Premià de Dalt.

Yes, when it is made with laminated safety glass and properly fixed to the slab. If a pane breaks, the fragments stay bonded to the interlayer.
04Can a balcony railing be replaced without lifting the floor?
It depends on the existing fixings. If the base is sound, we reuse the same points or fix to the edge of the slab; if it is rusted or cracked, we repair it before fitting the new railing.
