Why showers start to leak
In 1960s to 80s flats in areas such as Les Delícies, Les Nogueres and El Paradís the tray is usually bedded in mortar over old bitumen felt that has broken down, or with nothing at all. We lift the tray and the shower tiling and lay a new membrane that laps onto the walls.
When the leak comes only from the joints, in homes in areas such as La Molassa, Vallvallida and La Vinya it can be enough to rake out the grout, seal with a waterproofing product and regrout in epoxy. We decide that only after a water test shows the membrane underneath is intact.
