From old tiles to a clean splashback
In 1960s–80s flats in areas such as Les Delícies, Les Nogueres and El Paradís the kitchen often keeps its original tiles up to the ceiling. For a more up-to-date wall we either remove only the area between units and paint the rest with washable paint, or retile the whole wall in a new format.
In kitchens in areas such as La Molassa, Vallvallida and La Vinya we take care with the edges: trims on external corners, a polished or mitred top edge and clean cuts around windows. When tiling over old tiles we use a specific adhesive and finish the exposed edge neatly.

Not for the splashback: we work with the units in place and protected. For full walls, it is better to tile before the kitchen is fitted.
04Which grout is easiest to keep clean?
Narrow joints with epoxy or high-performance grout repel grease and don't darken. We recommend them especially behind the hob and sink.
