How we create a room under the roof in Sitges
Near the sea, in areas such as Centre, Poble Sec and Els Ametllers, damp salty air condenses on cold roof surfaces, leaving stains and blackened timber. We fit a vapour barrier on the warm side of the insulation and arrange cross-ventilation so the air does not stagnate.
For insulation, in houses in areas such as Sant Sebastià, Aiguadolç and Terramar we choose between mineral wool between the rafters, rigid boards below them or a mix of both, depending on how much headroom can be given up. We close it with a vapour barrier and plasterboard or timber lining.
