Wall assessment
We check whether it is load-bearing and, if so, an engineer specifies the beam or support.

Removal and making good
We take the wall down and repair ceiling and walls with no trace of the old partition.
-
Island or peninsula
A worktop or breakfast bar that defines each zone without closing the space.
-
Continuous flooring
The same floor in the kitchen and living room, level and without steps.
-
Effective extraction
A hood ducted outside so cooking smells stay out of the living area.

Open-plan kitchens in Sant Joan Despí: what we check
In terraced and detached houses in areas such as Centre, La Mossota and Residencial Sant Joan kitchen and lounge usually share the ground floor, divided by a thick wall. We check whether it carries the floor above and, if so, an engineer calculates the support before the opening is made.
In the kitchens we open up in areas such as Pla del Vent, Torreblanca and Les Begudes we rebuild the strip where the old wall stood across ceiling, walls and floor, so no trace of the former division is left.
On the visit we examine the wall and the services running through it, then send a detailed written quote; a site manager coordinates demolition, services and fitting. We also work in nearby areas: Cornellà de Llobregat, Sant Feliu de Llobregat and Esplugues de Llobregat.

Frequently asked questions
01Open-plan kitchen renovation in Sant Joan Despí: which areas do you cover?
We do this work in Sant Joan Despí, in areas such as Centre, La Mossota, Residencial Sant Joan, Les Planes, Pla del Vent, Torreblanca and Les Begudes, and also nearby: Cornellà de Llobregat, Sant Feliu de Llobregat and Esplugues de Llobregat. Before starting we visit the property and prepare a detailed written quote.
02How do I know if the kitchen wall is load-bearing?
We check during the visit: joist direction, wall thickness and plans, if there are any. If there is any doubt, an engineer assesses it before anything is touched.
03Won't cooking smells reach the living room?
Not with a properly sized hood ducted outside. We choose it for the volume of the open space and centre it over the hob.
04Can the existing living-room floor be kept?
If it is in good condition and at the same level, yes: we fill the strip left by the wall with matching or similar tiles. If none are available, we suggest a new continuous floor.
