When a terrace leaks: what we check
In areas such as Barri del Castell, Barri del Sant Crist and Barri de la Cisa, where winters are cold, water that gets into joints and porous tiles freezes and lifts them. We lay frost-resistant porcelain tiles with flexible adhesive and movement joints so the floor copes with temperature changes.
In areas such as Santa Anna, Tió and El Remei we usually waterproof with bitumen membrane or reinforced liquid membrane, always continuous. We take it at least 20 cm up walls and parapets above the finished floor and protect it under door thresholds, where we find most leaks.
