Open-plan kitchen renovation in Palafrugell.
We join kitchen and living room in Palafrugell into one brighter space, with a breakfast bar or island to gather round and flooring that runs through without a break.
5/5 · Google reviewsWhen does an open-plan kitchen make sense?
- Closed kitchen with no daylight
- You cook cut off from everyone
- A hallway eating up space
- No room for a family dining table
What opening up the kitchen includes
-
Wall assessment
We check whether it is load-bearing and, if so, an engineer specifies the beam or support.
-
Removal and making good
We take the wall down and repair ceiling and walls with no trace of the old partition.
-
Island or peninsula
A worktop or breakfast bar that defines each zone without closing the space.
-
Continuous flooring
The same floor in the kitchen and living room, level and without steps.
-
Effective extraction
A hood ducted outside so cooking smells stay out of the living area.
-
Zoned lighting
Separate circuits for kitchen, bar and living room, with spotlights and pendants.
Kitchen and living room as one space in Palafrugell
In holiday homes in areas such as Pedró, Sauleda and Molí de Vent the open kitchen is where the whole family meets during the summer. We suggest a peninsula with stools, continuous porcelain tiles that are easy to sweep free of sand and dimmable zoned lighting.
In open kitchens in areas such as Calella de Palafrugell, Llafranc and Tamariu we split the lighting into circuits for the prep area, the bar and the living room: downlights over the worktop, pendants over the island and separate dimming for each zone.
Over 20 years of opening up kitchens: a quote broken down by item, the rest of the home protected during the work and everything clean at the end. We also work in the surrounding areas: Mont-ras, Begur and Regencós.

Frequently asked questions
01Open-plan kitchen renovation in Palafrugell: which areas do you cover?
We do this work in Palafrugell, in areas such as Pedró, Sauleda, Molí de Vent, Calella de Palafrugell, Llafranc, Tamariu, Llofriu and Santa Margarida, and also nearby: Mont-ras, Begur and Regencós. Before starting we visit the property and prepare a detailed written quote.
02How do I know if the kitchen wall is load-bearing?
We check during the visit: joist direction, wall thickness and plans, if there are any. If there is any doubt, an engineer assesses it before anything is touched.
03Won't cooking smells reach the living room?
Not with a properly sized hood ducted outside. We choose it for the volume of the open space and centre it over the hob.
04Can the existing living-room floor be kept?
If it is in good condition and at the same level, yes: we fill the strip left by the wall with matching or similar tiles. If none are available, we suggest a new continuous floor.
