Before enclosing the terrace: what we check
In 1960s to 80s flats in areas such as Montcada Centre, La Ribera and Terra Nostra, the enclosure usually sits on the existing balustrade. We check it is firm and well anchored; if not, we replace it with a profile or low wall that can carry the enclosure's weight.
If you want to keep out cold and noise, in areas such as Can Sant Joan, Can Cuiàs and Mas Rampinyo we suggest thermally broken aluminium sliders with double glazing. We use a sub-frame or direct fixing to suit the support and seal with neutral silicone inside and out.
