Lowering a ceiling in Martorell: how we plan it
Town-centre flats in areas such as La Vila, La Mina and Rosanes, mostly from the 1960s to 80s, tend to have cracked plaster ceilings and one light per room. Dropping the ceiling a few centimetres lets us spread the light with downlights and cover cracks without hacking off old plaster.
In flats and houses in areas such as El Pla, Camí Fondo and Buenos Aires we start by marking the new ceiling level with a laser, along with the positions of lights, grilles and hatches. We make sure cables and ducts are in place before the first board is screwed up.
