How we tile a bathroom in Martorell

In 1960s–80s flats in areas such as La Vila, La Mina and Rosanes the original tiles are often firmly fixed but very dated. If the wall is flat and the tiles sound, we can tile over them with a suitable adhesive; if they sound hollow, we take them all off.

In the bathrooms we tile in areas such as El Pla, Camí Fondo and Buenos Aires the setting-out is done before the first bag is mixed: we mark centre lines, decide where full tiles fall and line up wall and floor joints. That way the cuts end up behind the door or under the vanity unit.

After the visit we send an itemised quote, with removal, preparation and tiling listed separately; a site manager coordinates the tiler and the plumber. We also work nearby: Sant Andreu de la Barca, Abrera and Castellbisbal.

Frequently asked questions

01

Bathroom tiling in Martorell: which areas do you cover?

We work in Martorell in areas such as La Vila, La Mina, Rosanes, Pont del Diable, El Pla, Camí Fondo, Buenos Aires and Torrent de Llops, and also nearby: Sant Andreu de la Barca, Abrera and Castellbisbal.

02

Can new tiles go over the old ones?

Sometimes, if the old tiles are firmly bonded and flat, using an adhesive for tile-on-tile. Bear in mind you lose a little space and the edges around doors and windows change.

03

Do large-format tiles work in a small bathroom?

Yes, and they often help: fewer grout lines make the room feel bigger. They just need very flat walls and careful setting out of the cuts.
