In 1960s to 80s town-centre flats in areas such as Dalt Vila and Baix Vila, the original wiring cannot cope with a modern kitchen. We run separate circuits for the oven, induction hob, washing machine and air conditioning and swap the fuse box for one with RCDs.
When a flat stays occupied, as often happens in areas such as Eixample, L'Erm and Gràcia, we work room by room and leave temporary lighting and sockets at the end of each day. The consumer unit is changed last, with only a short power cut.
