Replacing a railing in Manlleu: what to bear in mind
In 1960s to 80s blocks in areas such as Dalt Vila and Baix Vila, we find iron railings under layers of paint with rusted anchors inside the wall. If the support is damaged we repair it, and if the frame is still sound we consider restoring it rather than replacing it.
For glass balustrades in areas such as Eixample, L'Erm and Gràcia we use laminated safety glass in a channel set into the floor or held by stainless steel clamps. Each panel is levelled and the channel sealed so terrace water does not sit inside it.
