Painting a façade in Girona: access, substrate and colour
In 1960s to 80s blocks in town centres, in areas such as Barri Vell and Mercadal, the façade usually has render painted several times over and cracks at the balcony edges. We strip paint that no longer bonds, seal cracks with flexible filler and even out the finish.
For houses and residential buildings in areas such as Eixample, Sant Narcís and Montilivi the paint depends on the substrate: silicate on mineral render, siloxane where there is damp, acrylic over earlier plastic paints. That way the wall breathes and no blisters appear.
