Replacing a hood in Girona: what we look at first
In 1960s to 80s blocks in areas such as Barri Vell and Mercadal, the kitchen often has a shared vertical duct or no direct outlet at all. We check the draught and diameter, and if there is no way outside we fit a recirculating hood with good charcoal filters.
When an outlet has to be made in areas such as Eixample, Sant Narcís and Montilivi, we core-drill the wall, fit a sleeve with a fall to the outside and finish with a grille and non-return damper. The hole is sealed inside and out so no rain gets in.
