From empty wall to wardrobe in Girona
In 1960s to 80s flats in areas such as Barri Vell and Mercadal there are often built-in masonry wardrobes with old doors that can be reused. If the recess is sound we replace only the doors and interior; if not, we rebuild it with a new made-to-measure carcass.
Where there is no alcove, in homes in areas such as Eixample, Sant Narcís and Montilivi we build a plasterboard partition on a stud frame to enclose the wardrobe up to the ceiling. We leave a route for the interior lighting and paint it to match the room.

04How deep does a fitted wardrobe need to be?
Around 60 cm to hang clothes comfortably. With less depth, pull-out front rails work, or the wardrobe can be given over to shelving.
