How we reseal façade joints in Figueres
In areas such as Centre and Eixample, with winters that can be cold and hot summers, façades expand and contract a great deal, and rigid sealant ends up breaking. We choose polyurethane or MS polymer sealants that take up that movement.
On façades in areas such as Horta Capallera, Creu de la Mà and Poblenou, we fit foam backer rod of the right diameter so the sealant has the correct depth and bonds only to the sides. Where the joint is shallow, we use a bond-breaker tape at the back instead.

Because new sealant does not bond well to old sealant or dust. The old one has to be removed, the edges cleaned, a backer rod fitted and primer applied; that way the joint can move without opening again.
