What opening up the kitchen includes
-
Wall assessment
We check whether it is load-bearing and, if so, an engineer specifies the beam or support.
-
Removal and making good
We take the wall down and repair ceiling and walls with no trace of the old partition.
-
Island or peninsula
A worktop or breakfast bar that defines each zone without closing the space.
-
Continuous flooring
The same floor in the kitchen and living room, level and without steps.
-
Effective extraction
A hood ducted outside so cooking smells stay out of the living area.
-
Zoned lighting
Separate circuits for kitchen, bar and living room, with spotlights and pendants.
Kitchen and living room as one space in Esplugues de Llobregat
In terraced and detached houses in areas such as Centre, Can Clota and Can Cervera kitchen and lounge usually share the ground floor, divided by a thick wall. We check whether it carries the floor above and, if so, an engineer calculates the support before the opening is made.
In the kitchens we open up in areas such as Can Vidalet, La Plana and Montesa we rebuild the strip where the old wall stood across ceiling, walls and floor, so no trace of the former division is left.
Over 20 years of opening up kitchens: a quote broken down by item, the rest of the home protected during the work and everything clean at the end. We also work in the surrounding areas: Barcelona, L'Hospitalet de Llobregat and Cornellà de Llobregat.

Frequently asked questions
01Open-plan kitchen renovation in Esplugues de Llobregat: which areas do you cover?
We work in Esplugues de Llobregat in areas such as Centre, Can Clota, Can Cervera, Can Vidalet, La Plana, Montesa, El Gall and Finestrelles, and also nearby: Barcelona, L'Hospitalet de Llobregat and Cornellà de Llobregat.
02How do I know if the kitchen wall is load-bearing?
We check during the visit: joist direction, wall thickness and plans, if there are any. If there is any doubt, an engineer assesses it before anything is touched.
03Won't cooking smells reach the living room?
Not with a properly sized hood ducted outside. We choose it for the volume of the open space and centre it over the hob.
04Can the existing living-room floor be kept?
If it is in good condition and at the same level, yes: we fill the strip left by the wall with matching or similar tiles. If none are available, we suggest a new continuous floor.
