From fixing point to handrail: how we approach it
In holiday flats and second homes in areas such as Capaspre and Les Roques, the terrace is the most used spot in summer and the most exposed to wind. We size the glass and clamps for that load and check the railing is still firm after months with nobody touching it.
For glass balustrades in areas such as Dalt de Calella, Sant Quirze and Valldengulí we use laminated safety glass in a channel set into the floor or held by stainless steel clamps. Each panel is levelled and the channel sealed so terrace water does not sit inside it.

Yes, when it is made with laminated safety glass and properly fixed to the slab. If a pane breaks, the fragments stay bonded to the interlayer.
04Can a balcony railing be replaced without lifting the floor?
It depends on the existing fixings. If the base is sound, we reuse the same points or fix to the edge of the slab; if it is rusted or cracked, we repair it before fitting the new railing.
