Old pipework, new systems: our experience in the area
In flats in areas such as El Raval, El Barri Gòtic and La Barceloneta, the original plumbing often runs inside load-bearing walls or across the lightwell, with joints from different decades. We reroute the pipes inside the flat, leave the meter accessible and connect the waste pipes to the stack with fittings that suit the existing material.
For waste pipes in homes in areas such as La Dreta de l'Eixample, L'Antiga Esquerra de l'Eixample and Sant Antoni, we use PVC laid to the right fall, with a shared trap or individual traps depending on the bathroom. We check the connection to the stack carefully, as that is where smells and blockages usually start.

Yes. We can run the new pipe through chases or the ceiling and open up only what is needed. We assess it on the visit, depending on the finishes you want to keep.
04Does the water to the whole building need to be cut off?
Usually closing your own stopcock is enough. If the riser or the soil stack has to be touched, we coordinate with the owners' association and give notice in advance.
