Before the parquet boxes are opened: what we measure
In shared buildings in areas such as El Raval, El Barri Gòtic and La Barceloneta we carry the boxes of wood up the stairs or in a protected lift, and agree sanding times with the residents' association, as sanding is the noisiest stage with solid parquet.
For herringbone or chevron, increasingly requested in areas such as La Dreta de l'Eixample, L'Antiga Esquerra de l'Eixample and Sant Antoni, we set out the axes from the centre of the room so the pattern is symmetrical and cuts are spread along the edges. These blocks are always glued down.
A site manager coordinates removal of the old floor, fitting and door trimming, and we hand over the rooms vacuumed. We reach the surrounding areas too: L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Esplugues de Llobregat and Sant Cugat del Vallès.

02Can parquet go over underfloor heating?
Yes, with a stable, fairly thin board, usually engineered wood glued down, and a dry screed. The heating must have completed its start-up cycle first.
03Floating or glued-down parquet?
Floating boards sit on an underlay and are easier to replace; glued-down boards transmit less footstep noise and feel more solid. We decide based on the base, format and use.
04Does the wood need to sit in the home before fitting?
Yes. It should acclimatise in the room, as the manufacturer specifies, so it does not move later with changes in humidity.
