Before the frame goes up: what we check
In shared buildings in areas such as El Raval, El Barri Gòtic and La Barceloneta, noise from the flat above is a common complaint. We hang the frame on acoustic hangers, fill the void with mineral wool and agree drilling hours with the residents' association.
Hangers are anchored to the slab with fixings suited to each type of floor, which matters in buildings in areas such as La Dreta de l'Eixample, L'Antiga Esquerra de l'Eixample and Sant Antoni with clay block slabs. The main and cross channels then go up at the spacing the board requires.
A site manager coordinates the trades whose services run through the ceiling, and when we finish we clear offcuts and board dust. This work also takes us nearby: L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Esplugues de Llobregat and Sant Cugat del Vallès.

It depends on what needs hiding. It takes some height: a flat ceiling with recessed spotlights usually needs 8–10 cm; air-conditioning ducts need a deeper void. We measure it during the visit.
03Can a suspended ceiling go in a bathroom?
Yes, using moisture-resistant board and a hatch if there is an extractor fan or valves above. The ceiling copes with humidity and stays accessible.
04What is the difference between a plasterboard and a grid ceiling?
Plasterboard gives a seamless finish and is the usual choice in homes. A grid ceiling has removable tiles on a visible frame and suits premises with lots of services above.
