Shunt, lightwell or outside wall: where the air goes
In older buildings in areas such as El Raval, El Barri Gòtic and La Barceloneta we often find a fan that runs but barely moves air because the duct is dirty or crushed. Before swapping the unit we test the draw with the grille off and clean or replace the damaged section.
For the electrics in homes in areas such as La Dreta de l'Eixample, L'Antiga Esquerra de l'Eixample and Sant Antoni, we wire the fan to the light with a timer or to its own switch, and place it outside the shower zone or with the protection the REBT requires there.

03Are extractor fans noisy?
Modern low-energy models are fairly quiet. Noise also depends on the duct: if it is narrow or long, we choose a fan that can cope with it.
04Timer or humidistat: which suits me?
A timer keeps the fan running for a while after the light goes off; a humidistat switches it on by itself when humidity rises. In bathrooms with a daily shower, a humidistat is usually more convenient.
