Bathroom with a shower tray and black-framed screen

Bath-to-shower conversion in Barcelona.

In Barcelona we turn the bath recess into a comfortable, safe shower: a non-slip tray, a screen that keeps splashes in and, if you need one, a grab rail.

When does swapping the bath for a shower make sense?

  • Stepping over the edge is hard
  • You hardly ever use the bath
  • Worn or rusty enamel
  • The curtain leaves a wet floor

What the bath-to-shower conversion includes

  • Bath removal

We take out the bath and only the tiles we must, leaving the rest of the room intact.

  • Waste reworked

We reposition the waste and set the fall towards the trap or soil stack.

  • Membrane under the tray

We waterproof the base and take the membrane up the shower walls.

  • Made-to-measure tray

Non-slip resin or stone-effect tray cut to fit the space left by the bath.

  • Wall made good

We close the front with matching tiles, a wall panel or new tiling.

  • Screen and taps

Fixed or sliding screen and, if you like, a thermostatic shower column.

What we check before taking out a bath

In buildings run by a residents' association in areas such as El Raval, El Barri Gòtic and La Barceloneta, the noisy breaking-out is limited to one wall, so it is easy to keep to the building's working hours. Under the tray we check the floor structure and the trap, which in older buildings is often lead.

In bathrooms in areas such as La Dreta de l'Eixample, L'Antiga Esquerra de l'Eixample and Sant Antoni the waterproof membrane is the key element: it covers the whole base, runs up the shower walls and overlaps the waste so no leak reaches the flat below. We bed the tray on it with mortar or adhesive and level it with just the right fall.

Send us a photo of the bath and we will arrange a visit to check the waste and walls; you then receive a written quote with tray, screen and labour listed separately. We also convert baths in nearby areas: L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Esplugues de Llobregat and Sant Cugat del Vallès.

Frequently asked questions

01

Bath-to-shower conversion in Barcelona: which areas do you cover?

We do this work in Barcelona, in areas such as El Raval, El Barri Gòtic, La Barceloneta, Sant Pere, Santa Caterina i la Ribera, La Dreta de l'Eixample, L'Antiga Esquerra de l'Eixample and Sant Antoni, and also nearby: L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Esplugues de Llobregat and Sant Cugat del Vallès. Before starting we visit the property and prepare a detailed written quote.

02

Do all the bathroom tiles have to come off?

No. We remove the band of tiles around the bath and the panel at the front; the rest of the room stays if it is in good condition.

03

Can the tray sit flush with the floor?

It depends on the height of the waste and the floor slab. On the visit we check whether a flush fit is possible or a low-profile tray on the floor is wiser.

04

Which tray suits older people?

One with a very low edge, a non-slip surface and room for a grab rail or fold-down seat fixed to a solid wall.
