What bathroom ventilation includes
-
Duct inspection
We check the existing shared shaft or duct and whether it actually draws air.
-
Quiet extractor fan
A low-noise unit with airflow matched to the size of the bathroom.
-
Timer or humidistat
Runs on after the light goes off, or starts by itself when humidity rises.
-
Ducted outside
Ducting to the façade, light well or roof when there is no usable shaft.
-
Electrical connection
A protected supply kept out of the wet zones, in line with the REBT.
-
Air inlet
A gap under the door or a grille so fresh air can actually come in.
Fan, duct and incoming air
In 1960s and 70s flats in areas such as Sants, Sants - Badal and Hostafrancs, the bathroom usually vents into a shunt, a vertical duct shared by every flat. An over-powerful fan pushes air towards the neighbours, so we choose a moderate-flow unit and check the shunt is not blocked.
In homes in areas such as La Bordeta and La Font de la Guatlla, we wire the fan to the light with an overrun timer or to a humidistat, depending on how the bathroom is used. The supply is protected and kept outside the shower and bath zones, as REBT requires.
With over 20 years renovating bathrooms we know where ventilation tends to fail; we spot it on the visit and set it out in a written quote. We also work nearby: Eixample, Les Corts and Ciutat Vella.

Frequently asked questions
01Bathroom ventilation in Sants-Montjuïc: which areas do you cover?
We work in Sants-Montjuïc in areas such as Sants, Sants - Badal, Hostafrancs, La Bordeta, La Font de la Guatlla, El Poble-sec, La Marina de Port and La Marina del Prat Vermell, and also nearby: Eixample, Les Corts and Ciutat Vella.
02Can the bathroom fan share the kitchen extract duct?
No. Each needs its own duct: sharing one lets cooking fumes and smells into the bathroom, and the CTE (DB HS 3) rules it out.
03Timer or humidity sensor: which is more suitable?
A timer is simple and enough for most bathrooms. A humidistat suits internal or heavily used bathrooms, as it only kicks in when there is steam.
04What if the building's shared shaft does not draw?
We check whether it is blocked or shared with other flats. Sometimes the right fan is enough; if not, we look at a dedicated outlet to the façade or light well.
