What we check on a wall before replastering
In areas such as El Clot and El Camp de l'Arpa del Clot many early 20th-century buildings have gypsum over solid brick, with walls several centimetres out of plumb and decades of paint layers. Before plastering we hack off anything that sounds hollow and set screeds to bring the wall back to plumb without losing more room than needed.
To get a wall plumb, in flats and houses in areas such as El Poblenou, El Parc i la Llacuna del Poblenou and La Vila Olímpica del Poblenou we fix screeds at regular intervals and angle beads on the arrises. Plaster is laid between the screeds and ruled off, so corners and wall-to-ceiling junctions come out straight.
