What we check before the first plank clicks in
In 1960s and 70s flats in areas such as Sant Andreu and La Trinitat Vella the terrazzo is usually sound but worn, and laminate can go straight over it. That means no rubble carried down narrow stairs and far less noise in the building.
In houses and flats in areas such as La Sagrera, Navas and El Congrés i els Indians the skirting is fixed to the wall, not the floor, so the laminate can expand. We use lacquered MDF or a board matching the planks, with mitred corners and sealed joints.
The site manager plans clearing the rooms in turn, and when we finish we vacuum and take away packaging and offcuts. We lay laminate in the surrounding areas too: Nou Barris, Horta-Guinardó and Sant Martí.

Frequently asked questions
01Laminate flooring installation in Sant Andreu: which areas do you cover?
We work in Sant Andreu in areas such as Sant Andreu, La Trinitat Vella, La Sagrera, Navas, El Congrés i els Indians, El Bon Pastor and Baró de Viver, and also nearby: Nou Barris, Horta-Guinardó and Sant Martí.
02Can laminate go over existing tiles?
Yes, if the tiles are sound and the floor is flat. It sits on an underlay, so nothing needs breaking up; the floor rises slightly and doors sometimes need trimming.
03Which laminate works in a kitchen or bathroom?
One with a water-resistant core and sealed joints. Even so, next to the shower or bath we recommend porcelain tiles.
04What does the AC rating mean?
It shows wear resistance. AC4 is usually enough for a home; shops and busy areas are better with AC5.
