Laminate flooring in Nou Barris: what we lay it over
In 1960s and 70s flats in areas such as Porta, Vilapicina i la Torre Llobeta and El Turó de la Peira the terrazzo is usually sound but worn, and laminate can go straight over it. That means no rubble carried down narrow stairs and far less noise in the building.
In flats in areas such as La Prosperitat, Verdun and Les Roquetes we start by running a long straightedge over the whole floor: sunken joints and high spots are corrected with levelling compound, as laminate on an uneven base ends up creaking and opening at the joints.
The site manager plans clearing the rooms in turn, and when we finish we vacuum and take away packaging and offcuts. We lay laminate in the surrounding areas too: Horta-Guinardó, Sant Andreu and Montcada i Reixac.
