Sliding doors in Nou Barris: the wall comes first
In older flats in areas such as Porta, Vilapicina i la Torre Llobeta and El Turó de la Peira, hallways are long and narrow and hinged doors clash with one another. Many walls are load-bearing and cannot be hollowed out; there we suggest a sliding door on an exposed track that runs in front of the wall.
In homes in areas such as La Prosperitat, Verdun and Les Roquetes we open the partition to the width of the leaf, set the metal pocket frame plumb and close it with plasterboard screwed to its reinforcements. The track stays accessible so the leaf can be taken out without breaking into the wall.
