Why a drain stops flowing
In 1960s and 70s flats in areas such as La Vila de Gràcia and El Camp d'en Grassot i Gràcia Nova, the soil stack is usually asbestos cement or cast iron and belongs to the building. We replace all the waste pipework in the flat up to the branch, with the right adaptor, and if the stack looks damaged we tell you so you can raise it with the community.
For washing machines and dishwashers in flats in areas such as La Salut, El Coll and Vallcarca i els Penitents, we fit a standpipe with its own trap at the right height, so dirty water does not flow back into the machine or overflow as it empties.
