Consumer unit replacement in flats and houses: what we check
In 1960s and 70s flats in areas such as La Vila de Gràcia and El Camp d'en Grassot i Gràcia Nova, the board usually sits in a recess by the front door that is too small for modern protection devices. We enlarge the recess or fit a surface-mounted enclosure, and agree the time of the power cut within the building's hours.
In homes in areas such as La Salut, El Coll and Vallcarca i els Penitents, we add surge protection at the incoming side of the board. It protects appliances, the boiler and computer equipment from voltage spikes from the grid or from a storm.
With over 20 years in electrical installations, we replace the board methodically and leave the hallway clean and tidy. Nearby areas we also cover: Eixample, Sarrià-Sant Gervasi and Horta-Guinardó.

It cuts the supply when a voltage spike arrives from the grid or a storm, protecting the fridge, boiler, computer and other connected equipment.
