What changes with a new waste system
In 1960s and 70s blocks in areas such as La Vila de Gràcia and El Camp d'en Grassot i Gràcia Nova the floor slab is thin and a neighbour lives below. We lift only the flooring we need to, work within the hours set by the residents' association and protect the stairs and lift while taking out rubble.
The connection to the stack is the delicate part: in buildings in areas such as La Salut, El Coll and Vallcarca i els Penitents we find cast iron, fibre cement or old PVC, and use the right adaptor for each. If the system has no venting, we add an air admittance valve.
