What we check before changing fronts and worktop
In 1960s and 70s flats in areas such as La Vila de Gràcia and El Camp d'en Grassot i Gràcia Nova a narrow kitchen with original tiles up to the ceiling is common. If they are well bonded, we lay thin porcelain over them and skip the chiselling, with less noise and rubble on the shared staircase.
Splashbacks in areas such as La Salut, El Coll and Vallcarca i els Penitents can be tiles, thin porcelain or glass, laid over the existing surface if it is firm. We bring the sockets forward to the new face and seal the joint with the worktop using sanitary silicone.
