From pull strap to motor: how we work
In 1960s and 70s buildings in areas such as La Vila de Gràcia and El Camp d'en Grassot i Gràcia Nova, shutter boxes are built into the masonry, uninsulated and with a screwed-on cover. When we replace the shutter we open the box, change the axle and strap winder and line the inside so air stops coming in.
In flats in areas such as La Salut, El Coll and Vallcarca i els Penitents we check the guide rails: if they are bent or pitted we replace them and set them plumb, because a rail out of line makes the slats rub and eventually work loose.
