In 1960s and 70s flats in areas such as La Vila de Gràcia and El Camp d'en Grassot i Gràcia Nova, each bedroom often has a single socket and the living room runs on extension leads. We chase walls for new sockets within the hours set by the residents' association and clear the dust before stepping onto the landing.
If you would rather avoid building work, in flats in areas such as La Salut, El Coll and Vallcarca i els Penitents we use existing conduit with spare room, or run the cable in surface trunking or a skirting channel. In plasterboard walls we fit dry-lining boxes that clamp to the board.
