From old tiles to a clean splashback
In 1960s and 70s buildings in areas such as La Vila de Gràcia and El Camp d'en Grassot i Gràcia Nova it is common to find kitchens tiled floor to ceiling in period tiles. If they are sound, tiling over them avoids breaking out, cuts the rubble carried down the stairs and shortens the noisy part for the neighbours.
