Drainage in the Eixample: what lies under the floor
In older buildings in areas such as La Dreta de l'Eixample and L'Antiga Esquerra de l'Eixample we often find a lead drum trap under the bathroom and lead pipes running to a fibre-cement or cast-iron stack in the light well. We renew the flat's system up to the connection and, if the shared stack is damaged, raise it with the residents' association.
In areas such as La Nova Esquerra de l'Eixample and Sant Antoni we remove the drum trap and lead and fit PVC waste pipe with solvent-welded joints and clips that hold it without vibration. Every fixture gets its own trap, so one blockage no longer affects the whole bathroom.
We open up only what is necessary, take out the lead and rubble with the home protected, and leave the system tested and clean, ready for flooring. We renew waste systems nearby as well: Gràcia, Sant Martí and Ciutat Vella.
