Renovating a living room in the Eixample: where we start
In areas such as La Dreta de l'Eixample and L'Antiga Esquerra de l'Eixample many living rooms in older buildings face the street through a balcony and have high ceilings with cornices. We keep the cornices wherever possible and run new lighting through chases or a perimeter false ceiling that leaves them visible.
For TV walls in areas such as La Nova Esquerra de l'Eixample and Sant Antoni we build a plasterboard lining with reinforcement for the bracket, niches for the equipment and conduit from the socket to the screen. No cable is left on show.
While the work is under way we close off the living room with sheeting so dust does not reach the rest of the home, and hand it over clean, ready for the furniture. We renovate living rooms nearby too: Gràcia, Sant Martí and Ciutat Vella.
