Balconies in the Eixample: the damage we see most
In early 20th-century buildings in areas such as La Dreta de l'Eixample and L'Antiga Esquerra de l'Eixample many balconies are stone slabs or projections on iron sections, with wrought-iron railings. When the section rusts it swells and cracks the edge; we expose it, treat or replace it and keep the original ironwork wherever possible.
Water is behind almost all the damage: on balconies in areas such as La Nova Esquerra de l'Eixample and Sant Antoni we give the floor a fall to the outside, lay waterproofing under the tiles and fit a drip edge so water falls clear of the façade and the balcony below.

Not always. A lot of the work can be done from the balcony itself; for the edge and the underside we use a platform, scaffolding or rope access depending on the height and the façade.
