Painting ceilings in the Eixample: common problems and fixes
In areas such as La Dreta de l'Eixample and L'Antiga Esquerra de l'Eixample many older buildings have tall plaster ceilings with cornices and ceiling roses, sometimes over vaulted floors that show hairline cracks. We put up indoor scaffolding, seal the cracks and brush-paint the cornices so the detail is not clogged.
Over water, smoke or grease stains in areas such as La Nova Esquerra de l'Eixample and Sant Antoni we first apply a stain-blocking primer that seals the mark. On top go two coats of matt ceiling paint, which does not reflect the low light from the windows.
