Underfloor heating in the Eixample: height, structure and equipment
In older buildings in areas such as La Dreta de l'Eixample and L'Antiga Esquerra de l'Eixample, many floors are built on beams with infill vaults and should not carry a thick screed. There we suggest low-profile systems or a thin self-levelling screed, adding less weight and less height.
Each circuit in houses in areas such as La Nova Esquerra de l'Eixample and Sant Antoni runs from and back to the manifold with no joints under the floor. The flow meters let us balance them so a small bathroom and a large living room reach the same temperature.
A site manager coordinates removing the old floor, the installation and the screed pour, and we leave the base clean for the tiler. We also work nearby: Gràcia, Sant Martí and Ciutat Vella.

04What heats the water?
A heat pump, the most efficient match because both work at low temperature, or a condensing boiler. If the unit allows it, the floor can also provide gentle cooling in summer.
