New sockets in the Eixample: what homes are usually missing
In older buildings in areas such as La Dreta de l'Eixample and L'Antiga Esquerra de l'Eixample we still find two-pin sockets with no earth and plaster walls over thin brick. To avoid weakening the partition, we often run the cable along the skirting or in trunking and only chase where the wall allows.
In areas such as La Nova Esquerra de l'Eixample and Sant Antoni, when a room already has many sockets on one circuit, we do not spur off it: we run a new circuit from the consumer unit with its own breaker. Washing machine, oven and dryer always get a dedicated circuit with correctly sized cable.
