Railings in the Eixample: what we check before anchoring
In older buildings in areas such as La Dreta de l'Eixample and L'Antiga Esquerra de l'Eixample, many wrought-iron railings are set into the stone or brick of the balcony, and rust at the base has burst the edge. We repair that support before fitting the new railing and, if the balcony faces the street, protect the pavement below.
For glass balustrades in areas such as La Nova Esquerra de l'Eixample and Sant Antoni we use laminated safety glass in a channel set into the floor or held by stainless steel clamps. Each panel is levelled and the channel sealed so terrace water does not sit inside it.
With over 20 years in home renovation, we visit, suggest material and design and set it all out in a written quote. We fit railings nearby too: Gràcia, Sant Martí and Ciutat Vella.

Frequently asked questions
01Railing installation in the Eixample: which areas do you cover?
We work in the Eixample in areas such as La Dreta de l'Eixample, L'Antiga Esquerra de l'Eixample, La Nova Esquerra de l'Eixample, Sant Antoni, La Sagrada Família and El Fort Pienc, and also nearby: Gràcia, Sant Martí and Ciutat Vella.
02How high does a railing need to be?
The CTE sets the minimum height according to the drop and limits the gap between balusters so a child's head cannot pass through. At the visit we measure the drop and design the railing to those dimensions.
03Is a glass balustrade safe?
Yes, when it is made with laminated safety glass and properly fixed to the slab. If a pane breaks, the fragments stay bonded to the interlayer.
04Can a balcony railing be replaced without lifting the floor?
It depends on the existing fixings. If the base is sound, we reuse the same points or fix to the edge of the slab; if it is rusted or cracked, we repair it before fitting the new railing.
