- Kitchen tiling
Kitchen tiling in the Eixample.
In the Eixample we tile the walls of new or refitted kitchens, with the cuts for sockets, windows and corners worked out before the first tile goes up.
5/5 · Google reviewsWhen is it time to retile the kitchen?
- Loose or hollow-sounding tiles
- Dark grout that won't come clean
- Old tiles that clash with the room
- New units that need a new splashback

Kitchens in the Eixample: what lies behind the old tiles
In flats in older buildings in areas such as La Dreta de l'Eixample and L'Antiga Esquerra de l'Eixample the kitchen is often narrow, sometimes with a utility gallery, and its walls hide pipes and cables in old chases. When the tiles come off we check what runs behind them and true up the wall before tiling.
Next to the sink, in kitchens in areas such as La Nova Esquerra de l'Eixample and Sant Antoni, we apply a liquid waterproofing coat before tiling and seal the joint with the worktop with silicone. That way splashes never reach the plaster in the wall.
After the visit you get an itemised quote separating removal, preparation and tiling; if units are being fitted, the site manager coordinates both jobs. We also work nearby: Gràcia, Sant Martí and Ciutat Vella.

Frequently asked questions
01Kitchen tiling in the Eixample: which areas do you cover?
We work in the Eixample in areas such as La Dreta de l'Eixample, L'Antiga Esquerra de l'Eixample, La Nova Esquerra de l'Eixample, Sant Antoni, La Sagrada Família and El Fort Pienc, and also nearby: Gràcia, Sant Martí and Ciutat Vella.
02Should the old tiles come off, or can you tile over them?
If the existing tiles are firm and flat, we can tile over them with a suitable adhesive. If they sound hollow or there is damp, we remove them so the problem is not carried over.
03Do the units have to come out for tiling?
Not for the splashback: we work with the units in place and protected. For full walls, it is better to tile before the kitchen is fitted.
04Which grout is easiest to keep clean?
Narrow joints with epoxy or high-performance grout repel grease and don't darken. We recommend them especially behind the hob and sink.
