Renovating a flat with history in Ciutat Vella
In areas such as El Barri Gòtic and El Raval flats often still have lead pipes up to the meter and cloth-covered wiring with no earth. Replacing them means cutting chases in old walls, so we plan the work with the owners' association and keep to its hours.
If opening a ceiling or floor in areas such as Sant Pere, Santa Caterina and La Ribera reveals a damaged beam, we stop, show it to you and give you a written assessment before carrying on. Reinforcement uses steel sections or whatever method suits that floor structure.
On the visit we survey the flat and then send a detailed written quote; the site manager protects what is being kept and leaves everything clean. We also renovate in nearby areas: Eixample, Sants-Montjuïc and Sant Martí.

Frequently asked questions
01Renovation of older flats in Ciutat Vella: which areas do you cover?
We do this work in Ciutat Vella, in areas such as El Barri Gòtic, El Raval, Sant Pere, Santa Caterina, La Ribera and La Barceloneta, and also nearby: Eixample, Sants-Montjuïc and Sant Martí. Before starting we visit the property and prepare a detailed written quote.
02Can the original encaustic tile floor be kept?
In many cases, yes. We assess it during the visit: if the tiles are sound they are cleaned, loose ones are relaid and the floor is polished; if not, they can be reused in a single room.
03What happens if surprises turn up when walls or ceilings are opened?
It is common in an older flat. We check everything visible before quoting and, if something hidden appears, such as a damaged beam, we show it to you and add it to the written quote before carrying on.
